I Am trying to download a web site. I have a registered version 2.3.3 (downloaded it from this site). The program runs for some time the counter finds 384 files in the site and around 198 it stops. When I pause the program and restart it downloads one more file... After pausing and restarting I finally gave up. The site is a "simple" html site, that is no php, no java etc.
Hope you can fix this problem. Will recomend it to my colleages if it works. |

| At what page does it stop? Have you tried to open the preferences and press the 'Factory default' button? |

I have exactly the same problem. It downloads a while and stops and i get the funny blue and greay strped rotating barbers pole instead of the progress bar. If I click pause and restart it starts again but only for a while (10, 20 files) then stops again. Sometimes it stops half way through dumping and none of the buttons (pause, stop etc) are available so I have to restart.
Any clues anyone?

| Do you have a page causing that problem? or the exact URL causing the problem? (a starting pages with dozens of results doesn't help). |

hello,
same problem here. im trying to download a huge chinese blog website http://www.blogcn.com
the download stops after some time, and continues only if i press Pause and then Resume, but then it stops again etc.
what i see on the window when the download stops are things like:
[05] Connect: http://www.blogcn.com/u2/79/84/wenzhaiboke/blog/58678944.html
or
[01] Connect: http://www.blogcn.com/wzfl/artcle/20073/55602098.shtml
i tried several times, i think you just give this website a try and the problem will occur very soon. if i understand, it is something like web dumper is waiting for a page to load, but it never comes. i would need it to give up after a few seconds (i thought it would do that, since there is such an option in the preferences).
btw, i don't care if the final download misses a lot of files, im doing this download only to see the general structure of the website.
any help mucho appreciated

i don't know if its useful, but just in case, sometimes Web Dumper also stops on other kind of files, like:
http://www.blogcn.com/musiclog/images/main_left_bg24.gif
some others like ..../Search.js
this website is indeed often difficult to reach, sometimes it is very crowded, sometimes not. im using a broadband connexion in switzerland and i left Web Dumper running during two full days and nights: it only downloaded 12 mb of files... now that i tried doing pause-resume every minute or so, i am close to 20mb after 10 minutes of work. it would be nice if the pause-resume trick could be performed automatically by the application.

| I hope this is not intentional, I mean, some sites develop methods to make web retriever fail. I have seen a lot of methods. I will have a look anyway. |
