|
|
I just purchased Email Verifer for my Mac OS X 10.4.8, and it will not verify any email addresses. Port 25 is open and I have tried every setting in the preferences that I can think of. I also tried the router addresses with no success. All connections always timeout.
Any suggestions? |

| Have you tried to add your DNS server address(es) to the preferences? |

Yes, I tried the DNS addresses and had no success.
I don't seem to be getting any connection at all... it just continues to timeout. |

| Is the timeout happening during the NS lookup or during SMTP connection? |

Here is the DNS server response:
; <<>> DiG 9.2.2 <<>> cybrjakk.net mx
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 30210
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0
;; QUESTION SECTION:

;; WHEN: Tue May 29 16:37:20 2007
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 46
And here is the console message:
[01] 5/29 16:37:20 MX <richard@cybrjakk.net> -> [cybrjakk.net]
[01] 5/29 16:37:20 > CONNECT TO: [cybrjakk.net]

| The NS lookup is correct. The problem happens when trying to connect to the SMTP server thru port 25. Are you completely sure port 25 is not blocked? You have all the symptoms actually. |

I ran this Telnet test:
telnet smtp.knology.net 25
Trying 24.214.63.101...
Connected to smtp.knology.net.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 smtp6.knology.net UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL IS PROHIBITED: http://www.knology.com/legal/aup ESMTP
Outgoing mail is fine... firewall off.
I can't find any problems. |

| Is 'smtp.knology.net' you ISP server? In such case it is useless as your ISP will always allow you to connect to port 25 on their server. Try: 'smtp.maxprog.com 25'. |

Test Results:
telnet smtp.maxprog.com 25
Trying 65.181.149.210...
telnet: connect to address 65.181.149.210: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
Now what do you suggest? |

Hi,
So port 25 is blocked on your account. Have you tried to contact your ISP to see if they can unlock it? Some ISPs will do it without problems, others may offer you a 'business' account with no blocks.
