I am a new user -- actually just trying out iCash tonight for the first time. I want to use it to manage personal finances as well as finances for my small medical practice. I often transfer $$ between my business account and my personal account in either direction. I started setting these up as separate files so I could use household accounts/catagories for one and office accounts/categories for the other. I am guessing that having those as separate files will not allow me to record transfers between without entering them separately, but I did not find this specifically addressed in the documentation. Any advice?

I would create a transaction on each file. For example if you move money from work to home, create a transaction to remove that money from work and create a transaction on home to add the money. If you don't want those transfers to appear as incomes or expenses, use a startup account.

Thanks. I thought I might have to do something like that, but I didn't understand how a startup account might be used to eliminate it showing up as an expense or as income.
